Savior of Nature: UIN Jakarta Inaugurates New Professor of Applied Biology
Ciputat, UIN Online News — The appointment of Dr. Agus Salim, M.Si., as Professor of Applied Biology attests that UIN Jakarta has attained a commendable achievement in modern science as a State Islamic Religious University (PTKIN).
This statement was promulgated via the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Mendikti Saintek RI) Number 3312 of 2025, Jakarta, Thursday (July 3, 2025).
Prof. Dr. Agus Salim, M.Si., is currently teaching as a Lecturer in the Biology Study Program at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) UIN Jakarta. This man is recognized as a profoundly committed educator, excelling in both instruction and the advancement of new research. Thanks to his diligence and steadfastness in contributing to the realms of education and research, he attains his professorship.
Among his contributions primarily pertain to ecology and applied biology, one of which is Ultrasonically Enhanced Extraction of Luteolin and Apigenin from the Leaves of Perilla frutescens. His research on plastic pollution on the Indonesian coast has significantly contributed to the global environmental studies.
In addition, as a researcher, he is also an active writer in the early 2020s: Management of Natural Resources in the Asia Pacific Region (2023), Waste Management of Oil and Gas at Jakarta Port (2022), Environmental Impact Analysis Handbook: Housing Development in Rumpin, West Java (2021), and Tinjauan Kelayakan Proyek Berdasar pada Pembiayaan Sukuk: Suatu Implementasi (2020).
Moreover, Prof. Agus Salim currently holds the position of Head of the Biology Study Program at the Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Jakarta (2023-Present), while he has previously served as the Head of the Foreign Cooperation Delegation for the FST Forum to Japan (2016, 2017, 2018, 2022) and as the Head of the Edunet Germany Delegation (2017).
Among various other helpful roles, he is distinguished for his commitment to serving Indonesia as recorded on the official website of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
